When you blog, should you mention your home phone number? How about your child's name? Should you talk about your boss?

My advice is - no. Your blog has a global audience whether you know it or not. If you'd feel uncomfortable sharing information with that creepy stranger you just met at the grocery store, remember that if you post that information on your blog, you just did the equivalent.

Blogs are spontaneous. That can be good or bad. If your boss makes you mad, and you vent on your personal blog, you could find yourself fired the next day.

If you went to the ballgame rather than attend your girlfriend's piano recital, make sure you don't blog about the game if you told her you had to work.

It's easy to forget that lots of people can access your blog. So make it a point to treat every word on your blog as if it were a newspaper headline. Would you want that information out there?
